Success
The CSN has worked with several sports clubs so far on issues such as ClubMark accreditation, funding and coaching and volunteering. To this end the CSN has been successful when applying for funding, and has secured over £300,000 for sports clubs and other initiatives identified through the Community Sports Network. Such developments help to increase the skills levels of those involved in running clubs, as well as giving them recognition for the work that they do through accreditation. Training for coaching staff is an important part of the work and this can also lead to employment and self-employment opportunities. Volunteering tends to be widespread in community sports clubs and groups and these skills and structured support for volunteering can also provide a range of additional opportunities and increase the employability of local people.
